Natural Ways to Help Manage Your Depression: A little bit of Dark Chocolate helps too. Please note that I said a little bit. Moderation is the key here as too much will not only cause weight gain and add to the previously mentioned sugar high, but it can also make depression worse eventually.

I have used this remedy myself and know that it helps but the trick is to use only excellent quality dark chocolate, cacao rich and full of healthy antioxidants.

Processed milk chocolate will not be of any benefit, but even though the dark chocolate increases serotonin in the brain, one or two small squares a day is more than enough.

When it comes to dark chocolate, it really is a case of getting what you pay for; the cheap version has much more sugar and truly little, if any, benefit in the treatment of depression.

Buy the pricier stuff, it is worth it as you only need to eat a little and so it will last for quite some time.

I do not mean dark chocolate with cream-filled centers, plain blocks with small squares.
