Natural Ways to Help Manage Your Depression: Establish regularity for your body clock with sleep. Even though a strong indicator of depression is either insomnia or wanting to sleep far too much, establishing a regular sleep pattern helps your body to heal itself from within.
More than eight and a half to nine hours sleep per night is enough and it is far better to go to bed at the same time every night and get up at the same time each morning, even on weekends and holidays.
If you started going to bed at, say, 9p.m. and getting up at no later than 6a.m., your body soon gets used to the pattern and both falling asleep and waking up will be much easier.
Napping during the day is a bad idea, even if you are tired, as having naps will make it more difficult to sleep at night and throw established sleeping patterns of course.
One of the most difficult things about dealing with depression is the desire of many sufferers to stay hidden under the covers. However, you feel, you must get out of bed because movement, which I will discuss next, plays a vital role in combating depression.
