This final piece of knowledge I wish to impart concerns natural ways to help deal with your depression is something I was told several years ago by a long-term sufferer, and they were right:

“Stay right away from negative things and people.” At first, this may seem like a bit of a generalization, but if you look at it more closely, it is very sound advice.

Television news, the internet, newspapers and many television programs are full of negativity. The latest global crisis, natural disaster and most recent heinous crimes are all splashed in front of our eyes daily.

For a person dealing with depression, this is very unhealthy and not at all helpful.

Depressing books and movies fall into the same category, you really do not need these things in your life while you are trying to get well.

The same goes for negative people, the type who tell you to ‘get over yourself’ or ‘pull’ yourself together’ while constantly moaning and complaining about their own lives are not doing you or your condition the slightest bit of good.

Laughter is truly one of the best medicines out there, and you can never take too much of it.

Funny books, films, sitcoms, jokes, you name it, they will all help. We all have the power within us to get well and stay strong, let’s use all the tools at our disposal to rid ourselves of depression, believe me, all the effort is well and utterly worth it!
